The Coverage Overlapping Problem of Serving Arbitrary Crowds in 3D Drone Cellular Networks

Chuan-Chi Lai et al.

Summary: Providing coverage for flash crowds is important for drone base stations. We propose data-driven 3D placement algorithms to solve the coverage overlapping problem and effectively maximize the system sum rate. The simulation results show significant improvement compared to other approaches, with a 200% increase in system sum rate and a 50% reduction in computation time using our enhanced algorithm.

LEOPARD: Parallel Optimal Deep Echo State Network Prediction Improves Service Coverage for UAV-Assisted Outdoor Hotspots

Haoran Peng et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel approach called LEOPARD, which can learn the movement of a user equipment (UE) to reduce its impact on the link performance from the UE to the UAV-BS. LEOPARD combines deep echo state network (ESN), Bayesian optimization algorithm (BOA), and message passing interface (MPI) techniques to improve the accuracy of movement prediction.

Proactive UAV Network Slicing for URLLC and Mobile Broadband Service Multiplexing

Peng Yang et al.

Summary: This paper addresses the challenge of accommodating multiple types of service requirements in a UAV network by slicing the network and employing learning and optimization methods. It formulates the UAV network slicing problem as a sequential decision problem to provide MBB services for ground mobile users while meeting the ultra-reliable and low-latency requirements of UAV control and non-payload signal delivery. The proposed solution approach combines distributed learning for predicting mobile users' locations, deep neural networks for accurate channel gain models, and a Lyapunov-based optimization framework for decomposing the original problem into separate optimization subproblems. Simulation results demonstrate the accuracy of the learning methods and the effectiveness of the optimization framework.

Toward Intelligent Cooperation of UAV Swarms: When Machine Learning Meets Digital Twin

Lei Lei et al.

Summary: Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) swarm has high mobility and low cost, but the complex characteristics of intelligent cooperation restrict its wide application. The recent development of artificial intelligence provides new methods, but they are resource-intensive and cannot be directly applied to constrained UAVs. This article proposes a digital twin-based intelligent cooperation framework for UAV swarm, with a case study on intelligent network reconstruction and simulation results to demonstrate its effectiveness.
