Transient Stability Enhancement Control Strategy Based on Improved PLL for Grid Connected VSC during Severe Grid Fault

Yuan Liu et al.

Summary: This article investigates the transient synchronization process of grid-connected voltage source converters (VSC), focusing on the VSC's damping ratio, control parameters, operation status, PLL parameters, and voltage dips degree influence on the equivalent power angle (EPA) and frequency behavior. An improved PLL is proposed to adaptively adjust the VSC's damping ratio for different voltage sags, reducing overshoot and oscillation, and validating the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis through simulations and experimental tests.

Small-Signal Modeling and Analysis of MMC Under Unbalanced Grid Conditions Based on Linear Time-Periodic (LTP) Method

Jianhang Zhu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a general small-signal LTP model under unbalanced grid conditions for MMC is established based on the inherent periodic time-varying characteristic of MMC's original relationships. The effects of controller parameters and interactions between different controllers on small-signal dynamics are studied using the eigenvalue locus analysis method from Floquet-Lyapunov theory. Results from the detailed nonlinear MMC model are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed analysis.

Enhancing Transient Stability of PLL-Synchronized Converters by Introducing Voltage Normalization Control

Chao Wu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel PLL structure with voltage normalization control to enhance the transient stability of grid-connected converters. By controlling voltage magnitude to counteract synchronization loss during grid faults, the system's transient stability is improved. Visualizations and analyses using both small-signal and large-signal models validate the effectiveness of the proposed structure.
