A Novel Fault Location Methodology for Smart Distribution Networks

Hamid Mirshekali et al.

Summary: This article presents an accurate impedance-based method for fault location in smart PDNs and enhances fault location accuracy using phase domain equations of distributed line parameters. The algorithm estimates load impedances and suggests multiple potential fault points for a PDN based on pre-fault recorded information, with the actual fault location determined by matching recorded and simulated voltage values. Accuracy of the proposed method is analyzed under various conditions.
