Design and Construction of a PET-Compatible Double-Tuned 1H/31P MR Head Coil

Summary: The study demonstrated a PET-transparent MR coil system for a double-tuned H-1/P-31 head coil at 3T, achieving minimal count rate loss and impact on PET image quality through proper component arrangement and design optimization. The MR-related performance was comparable or slightly better than that of a commercial double-tuned coil.

A radially interleaved sodium and proton coil array for brain MRI at 7 T

Summary: The study aimed to design and build a dual-tuned coil array for simultaneous Na-23/H-1 MRI of the human brain at 7 T. Experimental measurements and electromagnetic simulations showed that setups consisting of geometrically interleaved H-1 and Na-23 loops performed better. The manufactured array provided more than 50% gain in peripheral SNR and similar B-1(+) uniformity as a reference birdcage coil.
