The first multi-model ensemble of regional climate simulations at kilometer-scale resolution part 2: historical and future simulations of precipitation

Emanuela Pichelli et al.

Summary: This paper presents the first multi-model ensemble of convection-permitting kilometer-scale regional climate model scenario simulations downscaled from selected CMIP5 GCM projections. The results show improvements in representing precipitation characteristics and their projected changes over the greater Alpine domain.

Response of extreme precipitation to uniform surface warming in quasi-global aquaplanet simulations at high resolution

P. A. O'Gorman et al.

Summary: Research shows that in the tropics, precipitation extremes increase rapidly in response to climate warming, influenced by positive thermodynamic and dynamic contributions. However, the simulations studied here do not exhibit the high rates of increase of tropical precipitation extremes found in projections with some global climate models.
