Laminar burning velocity of microalgae oil/RP-3 premixed flame at elevated initial temperature and pressure

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: Experiments show that the laminar burning velocity (LBV) of microalgae oil/RP-3 mixture is influenced by initial temperature, initial pressure, and microalgae oil addition, with the greatest impact observed from the addition of microalgae oil, especially at an equivalence ratio of 1.1.

Single-step catalytic deoxygenation of palm feedstocks for the production of sustainable bio-jet fuel

Elaine Siew Kuan Why et al.

Summary: The study focused on producing bio-jet fuel from different types of palm oil through deoxygenation process using various catalysts. The results showed that Pd/C catalyst at 8 wt% had the best deoxygenation efficiency. The physicochemical properties of the produced liquid fuel met the standard Jet A-1 fuel requirements.

Effect of pre-chamber volume on combustion characteristics of an SI aircraft piston engine fueled with RP3

Huasheng Cui et al.

Summary: In this study, a commercial four-stroke spark ignition (SI) aircraft piston engine was modified to run on aviation kerosene instead of gasoline, and the impact of pre-chamber volume on combustion characteristics was analyzed. The experimental results showed that a 2.5-ml pre-chamber significantly improved in-cylinder combustion under heavy load conditions, leading to a higher indicated mean effective pressure and knocking suppression at different engine speeds. However, the pre-chamber had a negative effect on engine performance under low load conditions due to poor ventilation and increased heat dissipation.
