Hydroconversion for Hydrocarbon Generation of Highly Overmature Kerogens under Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis Conditions

Kang Li et al.

Summary: The study confirmed the feasibility of hydrocarbon generation from highly mature organic matter through hydrogenation conversion, with high yields of hydrocarbons produced under high temperature and pressure conditions. The method not only applies to kerogen and other macromolecular organic matter, but also has significant implications for the refining and processing of heavy oils and fossil-fuel tailings.

The Furongian to Lower Ordovician Alum Shale Formation in conventional and unconventional petroleum systems in the Baltic Basin-A review

Hans-Martin Schulz et al.

Summary: The Alum Shale Formation in northwestern Europe is proven to be a source rock for conventional oil and also has potential for shale oil and gas. It has a strong aromatic character due to uranium irradiation, impacting petroleum generation and retention. The formation includes a mixed shale oil/biogenic gas play and is an attractive gas shale candidate for gas generation and retention.
