Modelling of the gas-turbine colorless distributed combustion: An application to hydrogen enriched - kerosene fuel

Mustafa Ilbas et al.

Summary: This study investigates the distributed regime of hydrogen-enriched kerosene combustion in a gas turbine combustion chamber. By utilizing advanced combustion techniques such as colorless distributed combustion (CDC), the flame temperature can be controlled and the NOX emissions reduced, allowing gas turbines to operate with hydrogen enrichment within wider flammability limits.

Influence of various air-staging on combustion and NOX emission characteristics in a tangentially fired boiler under the 50% load condition

Yu Jiang et al.

Summary: Deep-air-staged combustion technology can reduce the formation of nitrogen oxides (NOX) in coal-fired boilers. This study used numerical simulations and experiments to investigate the effects of different air-staging configurations on flow field distribution, combustion characteristics, and NOX emissions in a boiler.

Mixture temperature-controlled combustion: A revolutionary concept for ultra-low NOX emission

Viktor Jozsa

Summary: Mixture Temperature-Controlled (MTC) combustion is a novel concept that reduces NOX emissions by 50% compared to V-shaped flames without compromise. The essence of this concept is cold air injection and distributed combustion through a homogeneous temperature field, leading to stable flames and reduced flame propagation speed, ultimately resulting in lower NOX emissions. This concept also has lower tendency to thermoacoustic instabilities than V-shaped flames.

Study on NOx emissions during the coupling process of preheating-combustion of pulverized coal with multi-air staging

Guangqing Zhu et al.

Summary: This study focused on the development of multi-air staging pulverized coal preheating-combustion technology and the optimization of burners to reduce NOx emissions during combustion. The results showed that the depth furnace air staging could further reduce NOx emissions, while the unburned carbon in fly ash presented an opposite tendency. Among the different burners tested, the high-speed axial jet burner showed the lowest NOx emissions under the multi-air staging preheating-combustion conditions.
