Thermochemical equilibrium study of ash transformation during combustion and gasification of sewage sludge mixtures with agricultural residues with focus on the phosphorus speciation

Thomas Karl Hann et al.

Summary: The study found that adding wheat straw and sunflower husks during sewage sludge co-conversion processes can enhance the phosphorus recovery potential of ash, forming more plant-available phosphates. Experimental results showed that gasification conditions significantly increased the degree of slag formation and potassium volatilization compared to combustion conditions.

Oxygen carrier aided combustion (OCAC) of two waste fuels - Experimental and theoretical study of the interaction between ilmenite and zinc, copper and lead

Ivana Stanicic et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fate of zinc, copper, and lead in waste fuels during combustion utilizing oxygen carrier aided combustion technology. It was found that iron on the surface of the oxygen carrier interacts with copper and zinc to form corresponding compounds, while lead is more likely to end up in the fly ash as PbCl2. Thermodynamic calculations were consistent with the identified compounds.

Comparative Study: Impacts of Ca and Mg Salts on Iron Oxygen Carriers in Chemical Looping Combustion of Biomass

Duygu Yilmaz et al.

Summary: Chemical looping combustion (CLC) is a promising method for carbon capture and storage (CCS) that utilizes an oxygen carrier to convert fuel into CO2 while separating it from air components. However, alkali compounds from biomass may cause deactivation of the oxygen carrier. Therefore, it is crucial to investigate the interaction between iron oxygen carriers and biomass ash-forming compounds.
