Corrosion of high-chrome refractory materials by high-sodium slag in an entrained-flow gasifier

Kuiyu Liu et al.

Summary: An analysis of the corrosion of high-chrome refractory by high-sodium slag in an industrial gasifier revealed that reaction and penetration layers were formed, and complex spinel existed throughout the penetration path. The interaction between the high-chrome refractory and high-sodium slag could exist until Fe and Mg elements were exhausted. The presence of Na changed the slag's characteristics, promoting its penetration into the refractory.

Deep insight into the ash fusibility and viscosity fluctuation behavior during co-gasification of coal and indirect coal liquefaction residue

Linmin Zhang et al.

Summary: Co-gasification of coal and ICLR is an effective method for large-scale utilization of ICLR. The addition of ICLR can reduce ash fusion temperature and viscosity fluctuation, improving gasification efficiency by decreasing operating temperature and alleviating slag-tapping problems. Additionally, it can transform hazardous waste into solid waste for resource treatment.

Understanding effect of phosphorus-based additive on ash deposition characteristics during high-sodium and high-calcium Zhundong coal combustion in drop-tube furnace

Zhihao Yu et al.

Summary: The combustion experiments of Zhundong coal in a drop tube furnace (DTF) revealed significant changes in slagging tendency predictions with a novel phosphorus-based additive, resulting in higher ash fusion points and a more advantageous ash deposit morphology. At temperatures of 1000°C and 1150°C, phosphate complex salts like Na2CaMg7(PO4)(6) were found in the ash deposits, demonstrating the phosphorus-based additive's effectiveness in inhibiting low temperature eutectic mixtures and improving ash deposition characteristics of Zhundong coal.

Morphological changes and ash fusibility of coal, rice straw and their mixture during CO2 gasification

Chong He et al.

Summary: The gasification behavior of coal and rice straw differs when gasified separately, but during co-gasification, the presence of rice straw particles promotes the shrinkage of coal particles due to their abundant alkaline components. The ash fusion mechanism of coal is characterized by a "softening-melting" process, while rice straw follows a typical "melting-dissolution" mechanism.

Influence of Ashing Temperature on Predicting Slagging Characteristics of Xinjiang High-Sodium Low-Rank Coal and Strategy of Using Mineral Additives as Potential Slagging Preventatives

Xiaobin Qi et al.

Summary: By conducting ashing tests and thermodynamic equilibrium calculations, this study investigated the impact of ashing temperature on predicting slagging characteristics of Xinjiang high-sodium low-rank coal (XJc). The results showed that reducing the ashing temperature is conducive to accurately predicting XJc's slagging behaviors and confirmed two slagging mechanisms. The effects of adding refractory oxides as antislagging measures greatly vary among coal types due to differences in ash compositions.

Effect of phosphorus-based additives on the sintering characteristics of cornstalk ash

Youjian Zhu et al.

Summary: The addition of Ca(H2PO4)(2)center dot H2O increases the initial melting temperature and improves the sintering behavior of cornstalk ash, while NH4H2PO4 slightly increases the initial ash melting temperature with little influence on sintering characteristics.
