Two New βN-Alkanoyl-5-Hydroxytryptamides with Relevant Antinociceptive Activity

Jorge Luis Amorim et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new synthesis route for two new N-beta-alkanoyl-5-hydroxytryptamides and investigates their antinociceptive effects. The compounds showed significant analgesic effects in pain models, potentially involving opioidergic, muscarinic, cannabinoid, and serotoninergic pathways. The findings suggest that these compounds could serve as a scaffold for developing analogues with promising analgesic effects.

Summary: The study revealed that C-18-5HT significantly inhibited leukocyte migration, nitric oxide, and cytokine production, while increasing IL-10 production. Through experiments on different cell types, C-18-5HT was established as a promising compound for the development of a new anti-inflammatory drug.
