Male-to-Female Presumed Transmission of Toxoplasmosis Between Sexual Partners

Jana Hlavacova et al.

Summary: The study found that the seropositivity of male partners for toxoplasmosis may increase the risk of infection in females, supporting the hypothesis of sexual transmission of T. gondii. Although the risk of transmission seems relatively low, it can occur during unprotected sexual intercourse, potentially at the time of conception.

Toxoplasma gondii and Psychopathology: Latent Infection Is Associated with Interpersonal Sensitivity, Psychoticism, and Higher Testosterone Levels in Men, but Not in Women

Javier I. Borraz-Leon et al.

Summary: The ability of parasites to manipulate the host's physiology and behavior, as shown in Toxoplasma gondii infection, can lead to changes in testosterone levels and psychiatric symptoms, especially in infected men. Evolutionary biology and parasite-host interactions can provide insights into mental health etiology.
