Aging and chronic high-fat feeding negatively affect kidney size, function, and gene expression in CTRP1-deficient mice

Susana Rodriguez et al.

Summary: By comparing aged Ctrp1KO and wild-type mice fed a chronic high-fat diet, it was found that CTRP1 deficiency led to renal dysfunction, with significant renal enlargement, increased urinary protein content, altered gene expression affecting various processes, and elevated blood cell counts. Surprisingly, heart function and vascular stiffness did not show significant differences between genotypes.

CTRP6 rapidly responds to acute nutritional changes, regulating adipose tissue expansion and inflammation in mice

Rotem Lahav et al.

Summary: The gene CTRP6 responds rapidly to acute changes in caloric intake and plays a role in inducing a physiological inflammatory response that limits adipose tissue expansion. In cases of obesity reversal, the expression of CTRP6 decreases early on, suggesting it serves as a negative regulator of adipogenesis and adipose tissue expansion.

CTRP4 ablation impairs associative learning and memory

Dylan C. Sarver et al.

Summary: CTRP4, highly expressed in the brain, regulates food intake and energy balance, and affects hippocampal-dependent associative learning and memory in a sex-dependent manner. Loss of CTRP4 does not alter most behaviors and cognitive functions but leads to increased pain sensitivity and altered gene expression related to learning and memory.

The CTRP3-AdipoR2 Axis Regulates the Development of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis by Suppressing Th17 Cell Differentiation

Masanori A. Murayama et al.

Summary: CTRP3, a member of C1q/TNF-related proteins, is highly expressed in Th17 cells and inhibits their differentiation. The CTRP3-AdipoR2 axis is a potential target for the treatment of Th17 cell-mediated diseases.
