Saturated and subcooled pool boiling heat transfer in mixtures of water and glycerin

Viktor Vajc et al.

Summary: The heat transfer coefficient (HTC) for saturated and subcooled pool boiling of binary mixtures of water and glycerin was experimentally measured. The study found that even mixtures with very low content of glycerin had a significant impact on the saturated boiling HTC. A simple empirical HTC correlation was proposed, and the effects of subcooling and liquid composition on total HTC were found to be equally important for mixtures with higher water content.

Experimental study of electrospray deposition method parameters on TiO_2 coating structure in pool boiling performance enhancement

Abbas Haji et al.

Summary: This research investigates the effect of TiO2 hydrophilic nanoparticles as coating material on pool-boiling heat transfer using Electrospray Deposition (ESD) method. The study examines the impact of spray parameters on the coating's structure, porosity, cavity characteristics, and thickness. The results show that the optimized coating improves pool boiling performance by enhancing heat transfer and reducing superheat temperature. Surface analysis reveals some loss in stability and adhesion of the coating during boiling.

Experimental studies of the pool boiling heat transfer enhancement capability and mechanisms of the micro-pillared surfaces on copper substrate

Linsong Gao et al.

Summary: Experimental investigations were conducted on micropillared surfaces for pool boiling heat transfer enhancement. Results showed that bubbles easily nucleate at sharp corners of square micropillars, and MP 50-50 (Square) showed improved performance leading to higher boiling heat transfer capabilities. The critical heat flux on MP 50-50 (Square) was found to be 32% higher than that on a smooth surface.

AUGMENTATION OF POOL BOILING HEAT TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS USING NAPHTHA CARBON SOOT NANOPARTICLES -WATER BASED NANOFLUIDS

Birlie Fekadu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the enhanced heat transfer characteristics of nanofluids by suspending naphtha carbon soot nanoparticles in water, leading to increased heat transfer coefficients and critical heat flux reduction. The addition of nanoparticles increases the heat transfer surface area and roughness, resulting in overall improvement in water's heat transfer characteristics.

Enhancement in pool boiling heat transfer of ethanol and nanofluid on novel supersonic nanoblown nanofiber textured surface

Satyam Singh Thakur et al.

Summary: Pool boiling of ethanol and Cu-nanofluid was studied on bare and novel supersonic nanoblown polymer nanofiber nanotextured copper surface. The nanotextured surface showed significant improvement in early ONB, CHF, and BHTC compared to the bare surface, while boiling of nanofluids led to degradation of ONB and BHTC but increased CHF. The synergistic effect of nanofluid boiling on nanotextured surface led to remarkable enhancement of CHF, BHTC, and ONB.

Influence of saturation temperature and heat flux on pool boiling of R245fa

Stanislawa Halon et al.

Summary: The experimental study on nucleate boiling of R245fa showed that the heat transfer coefficient (HTC) increases with heat flux and temperature, with higher heat fluxes/temperatures reducing the HTC dependence on temperature/heat flux. Comparing the data with nucleate boiling correlations, it was found that the models of Kruzhilin and Mostinski were the most accurate.
