UUO induces lung fibrosis with macrophage-myofibroblast transition in rats

Fan Yang et al.

Summary: Chronic kidney disease progressing to uremia is often associated with lung damage, with inflammatory macrophages possibly playing a role in lung fibrosis. MMT cells appear to be crucial in lung fibrosis and have a predominant M2 phenotype, which can be attenuated by treatment with eplerenone, suggesting a potential therapeutic approach for kidney damage and lung protection in UUO-induced injury.
