Mechanism and factors influence of graphene-based nanomaterials antimicrobial activities and application in dentistry

Asanah Radhi et al.

Summary: Graphene-based nanomaterials (GBNs) have excellent antimicrobial properties by disrupting bacterial cell membrane integrity and generating reactive oxygen species (ROS). The antimicrobial effects of GBNs are influenced by factors such as microbial cell morphology, GBNs characteristics, and concentration. Potential clinical applications of GBNs in dentistry include denture fabrication, restorative treatment, orthodontic treatment, and dental implant treatment.

Bacteriocins in the Era of Antibiotic Resistance: Rising to the Challenge

Gratiela Gradisteanu Pircalabioru et al.

Summary: Decades of antibiotic misuse have led to a rise in antibiotic-resistant bacteria, causing a concerning increase in antimicrobial-resistant infections. Bacteriocins, small antimicrobial peptides produced by certain bacteria, show promise as alternatives to traditional antibiotics. The objective of the study was to explore the potential of bacteriocins as antimicrobial therapeutics for infections mainly caused by resistant pathogens.

Applications of Fruit Polyphenols and Their Functionalized Nanoparticles Against Foodborne Bacteria: A Mini Review

Harsh Kumar et al.

Summary: Foodborne illnesses are often caused by ingestion of contaminated water and food, with microbes playing a significant role in such diseases. Various methods have been developed to protect food from microbes, but using chemicals for food treatment may have undesired effects on its organoleptic properties and nutritional value. As a result, there is a growing demand for natural food preservatives, with researchers exploring fruit polyphenols as potent inhibitors of foodborne bacteria.
