Elucidating Antiangiogenic Potential of Rauwolfia serpentina: VEGFR-2 Targeting-Based Molecular Docking Study

Adel M. Abuzenadah et al.

Summary: Angiogenesis is crucial for tumor development, and targeting VEGFR-2 signaling is a promising strategy for cancer treatment. This study identified bioactive compounds from Rauwolfia serpentina that effectively bind with VEGFR-2. Molecular docking results showed strong interactions between these compounds and VEGFR-2, and they possess favorable drug-like properties without significant toxicity. These findings suggest the potential of these compounds for antiangiogenic drug development.

In silico screening of glycogen synthase kinase-3β targeted ligands against acetylcholinesterase and its probable relevance to Alzheimer's disease

Nasimudeen R. Jabir et al.

Summary: This study identified ligands that effectively bind to two protein targets associated with Alzheimer's disease using advanced computational biology tools. Among 100 ligands screened, 48 were found to have promising binding energy profiles, and 13 were selected based on their blood brain barrier permeability, acceptable ADME properties, and molecular interaction profiles with the AD targets. Further wet laboratory validation is needed to confirm the effectiveness of these selected ligands for future AD treatment.

In Silico Prediction of Novel Inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 Main Protease through Structure-Based Virtual Screening and Molecular Dynamic Simulation

Sobia Ahsan Halim et al.

Summary: The study utilized a structure-based virtual screening protocol to identify compounds that could inhibit the viral M-pro, resulting in the identification of eleven potential hits. These compounds showed high to good binding affinities for M-pro, suggesting they could be further developed as selective inhibitors for SARS-CoV-2 M-pro.

Identification of Butyrylcholinesterase and Monoamine Oxidase B Targeted Ligands and their Putative Application in Alzheimer's Treatment: A Computational Strategy

Nasimudeen R. Jabir et al.

Summary: With the growing global aging population, the incidence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related disorders is increasing. In this study, 13 ligands were screened for targeting 3 different enzymes, showing 8 ligands with binding energies of <= -8.0 kcal/mol towards BChE, MAO-A and MAO-B. The ligand 6Z5 was identified as the most potent inhibitor of BChE and MAO-B.

Concatenation of molecular docking and molecular simulation of BACE-1, γ-secretase targeted ligands: in pursuit of Alzheimer's treatment

Nasimudeen R. Jabir et al.

Summary: Virtual screening, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulation studies have revealed the potential of these multi-enzyme targeted ligands. Among the studied ligands, 6Z5 appears to have the best binding potential and forms a stable complex with BACE-1 and gamma-secretase. We recommend the synthesis of 6Z5 for future in vitro and in vivo studies.
