Fabrication of a novel Three-Dimensional porous PCL/PLA tissue engineering scaffold with high connectivity for endothelial cell migration

Lixia Wang et al.

Summary: The novel three-dimensional porous scaffolds, prepared using supercritical CO2 foaming technology with heterogeneous nanofibers, exhibited obvious nanofiber structures and 3D reticular pore structures. The scaffolds showed good mechanical properties and hydrophilicity, and were found to be biocompatible with human umbilical endothelial cells, promoting their adhesion, migration, and permeability. These 3D porous scaffolds have great potential for application in vascular patches.

Tailoring the biodegradability and bioactivity of green-electrospun polycaprolactone fibers by incorporation of bioactive glass nanoparticles for guided bone regeneration

Zakaria Tabia et al.

Summary: Fibrous membranes composed of PCL and BGn were prepared using a green electrospinning method for potential use in GBR. The introduction of BGn improved fiber uniformity, alignment, and reduced hydrophobicity of PCL. In vitro studies demonstrated that biodegradability and bioactivity could be tailored by adjusting the BGn content, with higher concentrations leading to better biomineralization and matching degradation rates.

Role of PEGylated CdSe-ZnS quantum dots on structural and functional properties of electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds for blood vessel tissue engineering

Soumya Columbus et al.

Summary: The conjugation of PEGylated CdSe-ZnS quantum dots into electrospun PCL scaffolds resulted in composite scaffolds with smaller fiber diameter and pore size range compared to bare scaffolds. Both PCL and composite scaffolds exhibited better mechanical strength and elasticity than native arteries. The hydrophobic nature of the scaffolds was significantly improved upon modification with fibrin, and the PCL/Q-dot composite scaffolds showed optimal microstructure for supporting uniform endothelial cell growth after 5 days of culture.
