Effects of Tai Chi or Exercise on Sleep in Older Adults With Insomnia A Randomized Clinical Trial

Parco M. Siu et al.

Summary: This study compared the effects of tai chi, conventional exercise, and a control group on improving sleep quality in older adults with insomnia using actigraphy-based measurements. Both tai chi and exercise showed improved sleep efficiency and reduced wake time and awakenings compared to the control group. The beneficial effects were sustained for 24 months, indicating that tai chi can be an alternative approach for managing insomnia.
