An updated systematic review and meta-analysis on adherence to mediterranean diet and risk of cancer

Jakub Morze et al.

Summary: This systematic review updated the evidence on the association between adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) and cancer mortality, site-specific cancer risk in the general population, all-cause mortality and cancer recurrence among cancer survivors. The analysis included 117 studies with 3,202,496 participants, showing an inverse association between highest adherence to MedDiet and various cancer risks, while moderate certainty of evidence was found for some outcomes.

Meifang Chen et al.

Summary: The study aimed to describe Mediterranean diet adherence across the US regions and identified older age, black race, non-smoking, higher education level, higher income, regular exercise, and limited screen time as factors associated with higher adherence. Geospatial and population disparities in adherence were observed, with higher adherence clusters in western and northeastern coastal areas and lower adherence clusters in south and east-northcentral regions of the US.

Adherence to the Mediterranean Diet in Maltese Adults

Sarah Cuschieri et al.

Summary: The level of adherence to the Mediterranean diet is lower among the Maltese population compared to other Mediterranean islands. Factors such as being female, non-smoker, and older age are associated with higher adherence to the Mediterranean diet. Higher adherence is also related to consuming healthier food groups, while the influence of educational and occupational status on adherence to the Mediterranean diet is less clear.
