Summary: The research focuses on the synthesis of a series of hybrid manganese bromide compounds using the highly efficient photoluminescent inorganic framework MnBr42-, along with carefully designed quasi-spherical cations. The modification of cations not only enhances the photoluminescence quantum yield, but also achieves satisfactory ferroelectricity. One of the compounds, [FEtQ](2)MnBr4, shows highly efficient X-ray scintillator performance with a large range of linear response to X-ray dose rate, high light yield, and low detection limit.

Reversible phase transition, switchable dielectric response in In(III)-based organic-inorganic hybrid compound: [C3H8N]3InBr6

Yin-Qiang Zhang et al.

Summary: An In-based organic-inorganic hybrid compound, [C3H8N](3)InBr6 (1; C3H8N+ is cyclopropylammonium), has been successfully synthesized and experienced a reversible phase transition at 298 K, as confirmed by DSC measurement. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed different crystal structures at 330 K and 240 K, indicating a disorder-order changes of the cyclopropylammonium cations causing the structural phase transition, with an obvious dielectric anomaly near the transition temperature. This work paves the way for further exploration and design of In-based organic-inorganic hybrid phase transition materials.

Para-ferroelectric phase transition induces an excellent second harmonic generation response and a prominent switchable dielectric constant change based on a metal-free ionic crystal

Ding-Chong Han et al.

Summary: A novel metal-free compound [H-2(bpyp)][ClO4](2) (1) has been synthesized successfully, showing a reversible phase transition with a moderate ferroelectric polarization and small coercive field. The phase transition behavior, characterized by DSC and single crystal diffraction measurements, is induced by the motion of cations and anions. The compound also exhibits significant second harmonic generation switching response and potential applications in switchable dielectric elements.
