Mixed component metal-organic frameworks: Heterogeneity and complexity at the service of application performances

Marta Viciano-Chumillas et al.

Summary: The synthesis of mixed-component metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is a rapidly growing research field, offering unique possibilities to incorporate multiple functionalities and properties that are not simply the sum of each component. Despite challenges, promising ways to utilize the intrinsic properties of mixed-components MOFs for breakthroughs in catalysis and nanotechnology are presented through exemplary cases.

ZnII and CuII-Based Coordination Polymers and Metal Organic Frameworks by the of Use of 2-Pyridyl Oximes and 1,3,5-Benzenetricarboxylic Acid

Ioannis Mylonas-Margaritis et al.

Summary: The simultaneous use of 2-pyridyl oximes and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid led to the synthesis of five new compounds, including a metal-organic framework, coordination polymers, and oximic ligands-based networks. Magnetic and reactivity studies on the products revealed unique properties of the metal-organic compounds, providing insights into their potential applications.

Alkyl decorated metal-organic frameworks for selective trapping of ethane from ethylene above ambient pressures

Andreas Schneemann et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the successful adsorptive removal of ethane from ethylene streams using a series of metal-organic frameworks, with Zn-2(TM-bdc)(2)(dabco) showing the best performance. High pressure coadsorption measurements reveal an increase in ethane capacity and selectivity with increased pressures, which is rarely studied in most scientific research on hydrocarbon separation on MOFs.
