Perinatal exposure to pesticides alters synaptic plasticity signaling and induces behavioral deficits associated with neurodevelopmental disorders

Esperanza Lopez-Merino et al.

Summary: Increasing evidence suggests that perinatal exposure to pesticides can cause developmental neurotoxicity and increase the risk for psychiatric disorders. This study found that different classes of pesticides can activate the MAPK/ERK pathway and impair mGluR-LTD, leading to synaptic and behavioral alterations associated with neurodevelopmental disorders. In vivo exposure to these pesticides also resulted in behavioral and synaptic changes in line with neurodevelopmental disorders. Proteomic analysis revealed differential regulation of proteins involved in brain development and synaptic signaling by these pesticides.

Glyphosate vs. Glyphosate-Based Herbicides Exposure: A Review on Their Toxicity

Carlos Martins-Gomes et al.

Summary: Glyphosate-based herbicide has been widely used for weed management due to its effectiveness and perceived low toxicity. However, recent studies have raised concerns about the persistence and toxicity of glyphosate and its metabolites, as well as the role of surfactants in herbicide formulations. It is important to analyze and review these studies to redefine safety levels for glyphosate exposure.

Generational effects of a chronic exposure to a low environmentally relevant concentration of glyphosate on rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss

Jessy Le Du-Carree et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of glyphosate and its co-formulants on an F2 generation issued from exposed generations F0 and F1. It was found that glyphosate induces developmental toxicity and increases viral susceptibility. Further investigations are required to study the specific mechanisms of transmission.
