Can industrial agglomeration achieve the emission-reduction effect?

Neng Shen et al.

Summary: The study found that different degrees and means of industrial agglomeration may have different effects on environmental efficiency, leading to a U-curved trend between industrial agglomeration and environmental efficiency, and each region should make rational use of external effects according to different stages of industrial development.

Industrial agglomeration and environmental pollution: based on the specialized and diversified agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta

Yu Pei et al.

Summary: The impact of industrial agglomeration on the environment is complex, with different types of industries benefiting from different agglomeration modes in terms of environmental protection. Government departments need to control agglomeration scales, promote industrial transformation, and encourage different agglomeration modes to reduce environmental pollution in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomerations.

Impact of China's outward foreign direct investment on green total factor productivity in Belt and Road participating countries: a perspective of institutional distance

Fangming Xie et al.

Summary: This article investigates the relationship between China's outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) and the host countries' green total factor productivity (GTFP) in the Belt and Road participating countries. The empirical results show that China's OFDI can promote the GTFP in host countries, but this positive effect weakens as political and economic institutional distances increase. Additionally, expanding OFDI can reduce the impact of institutional distance on GTFP.

How does technological progress promote carbon productivity? Evidence from Chinese manufacturing industries

Li-Wei Fan et al.

Summary: The study found that changes in energy technology are more important for increasing carbon productivity, and changes in capital-embodied technology also have a significant impact on CP promotion. Additionally, the indirect effects of changes in capital-embodied technology through energy technology and changes in neutral technology through carbon technology are beneficial.

Sijing Liu et al.

Summary: This study reveals that in a global context, logistics agglomeration is an effective way to reduce air pollution under the influence of technological progress. In a sub-regional context, the suppressive effect of logistics agglomeration on air pollution weakens with increasing agglomeration degree, while the impact of technological innovation on air pollution spreads.

Does tourism industry agglomeration reduce carbon emissions?

Can Huang et al.

Summary: The global climate change agreement and China's industrialization process have led to increased pressure on China for energy conservation and emission reduction. The tourism industry, while promoting economic growth and improving the ecological environment in China, also has complex effects on carbon emissions. Agglomeration of tourism industry can reduce carbon emissions, but the relationship between agglomeration level and carbon emissions varies for different types of tourism areas.
