Bioremediation of ossein effluents using the filamentous marine cyanobacterium Cylindrospermum stagnale

Summary: The marine cyanobacterium strain Cylindrospermum stagnale has shown potential in treating wastewater containing proteinaceous ossein effluents and producing suitable fatty acids for biofuel production. Optimal culture conditions and dilution ratios can enhance the degradation of ossein effluents by C. stagnale, while also maintaining growth. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy analysis confirmed the degradation of ossein effluents, indicating the presence of calcium carbonate and calcite as degradation products in the culture medium.
