Use of GIS and Moran's I to support residential solid waste recycling in the city of Annaba, Algeria

Hamza Cheniti et al.

Summary: Urban planners need to understand the composition and spatial distribution of household solid waste to design effective policies. A study in Annaba city, Algeria, found high organic content with plastics and textiles as major components, showing spatial dependency. Segregating waste components at the source is efficient for reuse and recycling, with methane and open burning being major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions.

Grid integration of renewable energy in Qatar: Potentials and limitations

Eric C. Okonkwo et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that integrating large-scale renewable energy technologies can reduce emission rates from electricity production at relatively lower costs. Various scenarios of single and hybrid renewable energy combinations show that increasing the share of renewable energy in electricity production is feasible. Market simulations suggest that total annual costs for scenarios integrating renewable energy could be lower than the current reference case deployed in the country.

Plasma Hsp90 levels in patients with systemic sclerosis and relation to lung and skin involvement: a cross-sectional and longitudinal study

Hana Storkanova et al.

Summary: According to the study, plasma levels of Hsp90 are increased in patients with systemic sclerosis compared to healthy controls, and are associated with increased inflammatory activity, worsened lung function, and extent of skin involvement in patients with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis. In patients with systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease treated with cyclophosphamide, baseline Hsp90 levels can predict changes in DLCO over 12 months of therapy.

Analysis of Thermal Creep Effects on Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in a Microchannel Gas Heating

K. M. Ramadan et al.

Summary: In this study, the numerical simulation of thermal creep effects on fluid flow and heat transfer in microchannel gas flow at low velocities was conducted. The results showed that thermal creep has a significant impact on both velocity and temperature fields as Reynolds number decreases, leading to longer hydrodynamics entrance length. The study also revealed that thermal creep effect on heat exchange between gas and channel wall becomes more significant as Knudsen number decreases.

Thermal variable conductivity features in Buongiorno nanofluid model between parallel stretching disks: Improving energy system efficiency

A. Aldabesh et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the axisymmetric behavior of Casson nano-material between two stretchable disks using the Buongiorno nanofluid model. Similarity transformations are used to convert the governing equations into dimensionless form, and a homotopic procedure is suggested to determine the solution. The effects of various parameters on dimensionless velocity and temperature profiles are observed, with particular attention to the role of Brownian motion and thermophoresis diffusion parameters.
