Photocatalysis activation of peroxodisulfate over the supported Fe3O4 catalyst derived from MIL-88A(Fe) for efficient tetracycline hydrochloride degradation

Summary: The Fe3O4@PBS (M-Fe3O4-T@PBS) catalyst, prepared by immobilizing MIL-88A(Fe) particles onto a commercial porous block substrate and further calcining at high temperatures, showed great potential for tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) degradation in wastewater under white light and sunlight irradiation. The catalyst exhibited high degradation efficiency, simple recyclability, and excellent reusability even after 30 successive cycles. The study also investigated the degradation mechanism and possible pathways of TC degradation using various analytical techniques. Overall, immobilized Fe-based MOFs derivatives catalysts have significant potential for real and large-scale wastewater treatment.

Quasi-MOF derivative-based electrode for efficient electro-Fenton oxidation

Robust Cr(VI) reduction over hydroxyl modified UiO-66 photocatalyst constructed from mixed ligands: Performances and mechanism insight with or without tartaric acid

Summary: The study demonstrated that hydroxyl modified UiO-66 showed enhanced photo-induced charge carrier separation efficiency and improved Cr(VI) reduction activity. UiO-66 with 20% hydroxyl modification exhibited superior cyclic stability and photocatalytic performance compared to unmodified UiO-66 and UiO-66 with (OH)(2) modification. The introduction of hydroxyl groups extended the light absorption region to longer wavelengths in the visible range, potentially enabling photocatalytic activities under sunlight.

Construction of direct Z-scheme Bi5O7I/UiO-66-NH2 heterojunction photocatalysts for enhanced degradation of ciprofloxacin: Mechanism insight, pathway analysis and toxicity evaluation

Summary: Z-scheme Bi5O7I/UiO-66-NH2 heterojunction photocatalysts were successfully constructed via ball-milling, showing superior CIP removal efficiency compared to pristine Bi5O7I and UiO-66-NH2. Among them, the heterojunction with 50 wt% UiO-66-NH2 content (BU-5) exhibited excellent structural stability and optimal CIP removal efficiency, achieving 96.1% removal within 120 minutes of illumination.

Morphology controlled synthesis of α-Fe2O3-x with benzimidazole-modified Fe-MOFs for enhanced photo-Fenton-like catalysis

The rod-like alpha-Fe2O3-x material exhibited the highest activity for methylene blue degradation, attributed to its large surface area, high Fe2+ and oxygen vacancies concentrations. Density functional theory calculations confirmed that both Fe2+ ions and oxygen vacancies facilitate the dissociation of H2O2 to produce hydroxyl radicals for the degradation of organic dyes.

Trace FeCu@PC Derived from MOFs for Ultraefficient Heterogeneous Electro-Fenton Process: Enhanced Electron Transfer and Bimetallic Synergy

Summary: A FeCu@PC-800/6 catalyst was successfully prepared and demonstrated efficient catalytic activity for sulfamethazine (SMT) removal at a low dose of 25.0 mg L-1. Experimental and DFT calculations suggested that Hetero-EF reactions were enhanced by internal-microelectrolysis, where Cu-0 promoted electron transfer between Fe-0 and PC while Cu+ facilitated H2O2 decomposition and Fe3+/Fe2+ cycling. The catalyst showed cost-effectiveness and could be reused after thermal treatment, showcasing high efficiency for organic contaminants degradation through the EF process.

N-doped carbon-coated Fe3N composite as heterogeneous electro-Fenton catalyst for efficient degradation of organics

This work highlights the potential of the MOF-derived Fe3N composite as an efficient catalyst for wastewater treatment.
