Phthalic acid esters (PAEs) in workplace and house dust from Vietnam: concentrations, profiles, emission sources, and exposure risk

Anh Quoc Hoang et al.

Summary: Nine phthalic acid esters (PAEs) were detected in indoor dust samples collected from vehicle repair shops, waste processing workshops, and homes in Vietnam. Workplace dust had significantly higher levels of PAEs compared to house dust, with DEHP being the most predominant compound. The daily intake doses of selected PAEs through dust ingestion were much lower than reference doses, indicating acceptable levels of risk.

Methyl siloxanes in soils from a large silicone-manufacturing site, China: concentrations, distributions and potential human exposure

Jiali Cheng et al.

Summary: The study found that methyl siloxanes are widely present in the soils of a manufacturing site in China, with higher concentrations of cyclic siloxanes compared to linear siloxanes. Industrial activities and specific consumer products were identified as major sources of siloxanes in the soils. Although daily intake of siloxanes through soil ingestion was low, more research is needed to understand the health risks posed by siloxane exposure through other pathways.

Air pollution caused by phthalates and cyclic siloxanes in Hanoi, Vietnam: Levels, distribution characteristics, and implications for inhalation exposure

Hoang Quoc Anh et al.

Summary: The study investigated the contamination status and distribution characteristics of phthalic acid esters and cyclic volatile methyl siloxanes in indoor and outdoor air samples collected from chemistry laboratories, offices, and homes in urban areas of Hanoi, Vietnam. The results showed higher concentrations of the substances indoors compared to outdoors, indicating indoor emission sources are predominant. Positive correlations were found between total air concentrations of phthalates and siloxanes in indoor and outdoor air samples.

Parabens in personal care products and indoor dust from Hanoi, Vietnam: Temporal trends, emission sources, and non-dietary exposure through dust ingestion

Tri Manh Tran et al.

Summary: The study investigated the occurrence of seven typical parabens in personal care products and indoor dust samples in Hanoi, Vietnam. Parabens were frequently detected in both labeled and non-labeled products, with higher concentrations in labeled products. Levels of parabens in indoor dust samples were also found to be elevated, with an increasing trend in Vietnamese house dust over time.

Distribution of cyclic volatile methylsiloxanes in drinking water, tap water, surface water, and wastewater in Hanoi, Vietnam

Ha My Nu Nguyen et al.

Summary: This study found that the highest concentrations of cVMSs were in wastewater samples from the Hanoi metropolitan area, with lake water, tap water, and bottled water showing decreasing levels of cVMSs. Among the four cVMSs analyzed, decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) had the highest concentrations in all water samples. The human exposure to cVMSs calculated through drinking water consumption was significantly lower than inhalation exposure.
