Bisphenol S perturbs Sertoli cell junctions in male rats via alterations in cytoskeletal organization mediated by an imbalance between mTORC1 and mTORC2

Huan Wu et al.

Summary: The study revealed that BPS caused male reproductive dysfunction by affecting the integrity of the blood-testis barrier and apical ectoplasmic specialization, predominantly through disruption of F-actin and microtubules, and modulating the balance of mTORC1 and mTORC2.

Summary: The study shows that BPS and BPF appear to be safer alternatives to BPA for sperm biology, as they do not impact sperm mitochondrial functions, motility, and viability. These findings could assist regulatory agencies in identifying more secure chemicals for replacing BPA in industrial plastic production.

Urinary bisphenol A and its alternatives among pregnant women: Predictors and risk assessment

Fei-Peng Cui et al.

Summary: This study investigated predictors of exposure to BPA and its alternatives among pregnant women in China and found differences in exposure levels based on region and dietary habits. Intake of fried food and pickled food was associated with higher concentrations of the alternatives. Risk assessment showed that pregnant women's exposure to BPA and its alternatives was below the tolerable daily intake levels.
