A Semi-Analytical Fractal-Fractional Mathematical Model for Multi-Fractured Horizontal Wells in Coalbed Methane Reservoirs

Ruizhong Jiang et al.

Summary: In recent years, there has been great emphasis on coalbed methane (CBM) as a clean energy source, with multi-fracturing technology being widely used for its exploitation. A semi-analytical fractal-fractional mathematical model for multi-fractured horizontal wells in CBM reservoirs considering the stress sensitivity of the cleat system is proposed and validated through pressure-transient analysis and sensitivity analysis. The study also identifies nine flowing stages and provides insight into influence laws, with a field application further verifying the reliability of the model.

Numerical study on the heat transfer behavior in naturally fractured reservoirs and applications for reservoir characterization and geothermal energy development

Cao Wei et al.

Summary: Characterizing naturally fractured reservoirs is a challenging task due to their high heterogeneity, but geothermal development in such reservoirs shows promising prospects. Understanding heat transfer behaviors and reservoir damage is crucial for successful geothermal development. Integrating temperature transient analysis (TTA) and pressure transient analysis (PTA) helps overcome the non-uniqueness problem and provides a more accurate assessment of reservoir properties.
