Forecasting nuclear energy consumption in China and America: An optimized structure-adaptative grey model

Song Ding et al.

Summary: An optimized structure adaptive grey model is proposed in this paper, providing a generalized time response function theoretically and accurately modifying the background value based on Simpson's rule. Monte-Carlo Simulation and probability density analysis (PDA) reveal the robustness and reliability of the model. Experimental results show that the new technique significantly outperforms competitors from two different perspectives of PDA and level accuracy, and can still provide accurate forecasts across different forecast horizons.

Forecast of annual water consumption in 31 regions of China considering GDP and population

Meng Xiangmei et al.

Summary: The study introduces a grey multivariate convolution model to predict water consumption in 31 regions in China, showing high prediction accuracy and a downward trend in water consumption in over 50% of regions. These predictive results are important for water resources management in China.

Forecasting the renewable energy consumption of the European countries by an adjacent non-homogeneous grey model

Lianyi Liu et al.

Summary: A new adjacent non-homogeneous grey model was proposed to predict renewable energy consumption in Europe, emphasizing the weight relationship between the latest value and historical data. The model's parameters were optimized using a heuristic algorithm, and its performance was tested with examples from four central European countries. Predictions were also made for Europe and world renewable energy consumption, showing a gradual decline in Europe's share of global consumption.

Forecasting the daily natural gas consumption with an accurate white-box model

Nan Wei et al.

Summary: The paper proposes a weighted parallel model architecture (WPMA) strategy to reduce the numbers and non-stationarity of subseries in daily natural gas consumption forecasting, by introducing k-means clustering and weighting the forecasts of subseries. By combining WPMA with principal component analysis (PCA) and multiple linear regression (MLR), a white-box hybrid model called PCA-WPMA-MLR is generated. WPMA outperforms PMA in improving forecasting accuracy and reduces the mean absolute percentage error of MLR by 39.07% in the Melbourne case study.
