Real-time predictive energy management of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles for coordination of fuel economy and battery degradation

Ningyuan Guo et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a real-time predictive energy management strategy for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, which coordinates fuel economy and battery lifetime through velocity prediction and SOC reference generator, formulates a model predictive control problem for cost minimization, and utilizes the C/GMRES algorithm to handle real-time optimization of engine power command. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of this strategy in minimizing fuel consumption and restricting battery aging, showing superior solving quality and real-time applicability compared to other algorithms.

Adaptive energy management for hybrid power system considering fuel economy and battery longevity

Shuangqi Li et al.

Summary: The adoption of hybrid powertrain technology offers a promising solution to improve the efficiency and environmental friendliness of traditional oil-fueled vehicles, as well as alleviate range anxiety in battery electric vehicles. However, concerns over battery aging costs have hindered the popularity of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). This paper proposes a win-win energy management strategy for Engine-Battery-Supercapacitor hybrid powertrains to simultaneously reduce energy consumption and battery degradation costs, improving the overall economy of PHEVs.

Data-driven predictive energy management and emission optimization for hybrid electric buses considering speed and passengers prediction

Menglin Li et al.

Summary: A novel predictive energy management strategy with passenger number prediction and exhaust emission optimization is proposed for hybrid electric buses. The integration of vehicle speed and passenger number prediction based on deep learning accurately predicts future power demand, resulting in improved energy efficiency and reduced emissions. Simulation results show better performance of the deep neural network predictor in predicting speed and passenger number compared to other predictors, with significant reductions in emissions while only a slight increase in energy consumption costs.
