Remittance inflows affect the ecological footprint in BICS countries: do technological innovation and financial development matter?

Bo Yang et al.

Summary: This study reveals that remittance inflows and financial development have a negative impact on environmental quality, while technological innovations are crucial for reducing ecological footprint. Country-wise analysis shows that technological innovations promote environmental sustainability, and the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis is validated across the BICS economies.

Does globalization matter for ecological footprint in Turkey? Evidence from dual adjustment approach

Dervis Kirikkaleli et al.

Summary: By using a dual adjustment approach, this study finds that globalization has a positive long-term impact on Turkey's ecological footprint, while trade openness reduces the footprint in the short term, and GDP growth negatively affects it in both the short and long term. The study suggests that policies should be implemented to encourage energy consumers to shift towards renewable energy and to diversify the overall energy mix towards renewable sources.

Does renewable energy consumption reduce ecological footprint? Evidence from eight developing countries of Asia

Rajesh Sharma et al.

Summary: The study explores the impacts of per capita income, renewable energy, life expectancy, and population density on the ecological footprint in eight developing countries of South and Southeast Asia from 1990 to 2015. The results show that renewable energy has significantly reduced the ecological footprint, while population density has led to increased pollution emissions. Additionally, the association between per capita income and ecological footprint is found to be N-shaped.

Asymmetric impacts of energy efficiency on carbon emissions: A comparative analysis between developed and developing economies

Bamadev Mahapatra et al.

Summary: This study examines the asymmetric impacts of energy efficiency on carbon emissions for developed and developing economies from 1990 to 2017. It finds that the long-run impacts are asymmetric while the short-run impacts are symmetric. Therefore, broader benefits of energy efficiency should be considered in policy assessment, and developing economies should establish strong substitution effects.
