Modification of the Wiebe function for methane-air and oxy-methane-based spark-ignition engines

Shah Saud Alam et al.

Summary: An adaptive Wiebe function was developed for methane-air combustion and oxy-methane combustion in spark-ignition (SI) engines. Linear regression analysis was used to fit the adaptive Wiebe model to experimental data with good accuracy. Scaling process was extended for specialized SI applications. Comparisons with literature show that the scaled Wiebe function is a reasonable tool for combustion predictions.

Design, development and testing a hybrid control model for RCCI engine using double Wiebe function and random forest machine learning

Chinmaya Mishra et al.

Summary: The study proposed a novel hybrid control model by combining physics-inspired parametrized double Wiebe function and Random Forest Machine Learning to predict combustion metrics trends in an RCCI engine. The hybrid control model exhibited good accuracy and was able to capture the local cyclic variation trends in experiment, showing its potential as an efficient and accurate engine control system calibration method.
