Dynamics of laminar ethylene lifted flame with ozone addition

Bin Wu et al.

Summary: The addition of ozone to ethylene non-premixed jet flames can change the flame liftoff height depending on initial conditions. Ozonolysis reaction between ethylene and ozone alters the chemical composition of the flow, affecting the flame stabilization.

Comparison of Flame Propagation Statistics Based on Direct Numerical Simulation of Simple and Detailed Chemistry. Part 2: Influence of Choice of Reaction Progress Variable

Felix B. Keil et al.

Summary: Flame propagation statistics for turbulent, statistically planar premixed flames obtained from 3D Direct Numerical Simulations using both simple and detailed chemistry were evaluated and compared. While the displacement speed statistics were qualitatively similar for both chemistry types, there were significant differences in their individual contributions.

Effects of Nanosecond Repetitively Pulsed Discharges Timing for Aeroengines Ignition at Low Temperature Conditions by Needle-Ring Plasma Actuator

Ghazanfar Mehdi et al.

Summary: Various national and international research organizations are currently working on the development of low NOx combustors. This study focused on experimental and numerical characterization of flow dynamics and combustion characteristics in a rectangular burner. Results showed that plasma-assisted ignition is effective in achieving flame ignition at low inlet temperatures, reducing ignition time and requiring fewer pulses for ignition compared to air plasma actuation.

Comparison of Flame Propagation Statistics Extracted from Direct Numerical Simulation Based on Simple and Detailed Chemistry-Part 1: Fundamental Flame Turbulence Interaction

Felix Benjamin Keil et al.

Summary: This study compares flame propagation statistics obtained from simple and detailed chemistry Direct Numerical Simulations, establishing a new database encompassing different conditions on the turbulent premixed combustion regime diagram. The results show good qualitative and reasonably good quantitative agreement between the two approaches, suggesting the importance of simple chemistry simulations in future combustion research.
