Landward shifts of the maximum accretion zone in the tidal reach of the Changjiang estuary following construction of the Three Gorges Dam

Xuefei Mei et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the morphological variations of the Datong-Xuliujing Reach (DXR) tidal reach of the Changjiang River. Three different morphological development phases were identified, influenced by sediment supply and regulation by the Three Gorges Dam. Sustainable management is crucial for large alluvial rivers and their tidal reaches in responding to natural and anthropogenic effects.
