Fangjing Zhu et al.

Summary: Helical mesoporous organic-inorganic hybrid silica nanofibers with blue fluorescence were synthesized, with hexagonally arranged pore channels and lamellar mesopores on the surfaces. Structurally coloured organic-inorganic hybrid silica films with a chiral nematic structure prepared through a self-templating approach

Weiwei Liu et al.

Summary: The research demonstrated the preparation of structural colored organic-inorganic hybrid silica films using a self-templating approach with liquid crystalline organosilane and a chiral dopant under the catalysis of HCl. The reflective band can be tuned by adjusting the concentration of the chiral dopant, and field-emission scanning electron microscopy images revealed a layer structure composed of right-handed packed nanofibers.

Summary: In this study, three D-A type enantiomers were designed and synthesized as CPL emitters doped into liquid crystals, with N*-LCs-1 showing higher luminescence dissymmetry factor and quantum yield due to effective chirality transfer and intramolecular electronic coupling. Tetraphenylethene-decorated difluoroboron β-diketonates with terminal chiral α-phenylethylamine: Aggregation-induced emission, circularly polarized luminescence and mechanofluochromism

Hong Yang et al.

Summary: A facile synthetic approach to chiral beta-diketone ligands incorporating TPE group and enantiopure alpha-PEA has been developed, with observed aggregation-induced emissions and circular dichroism signals. Strong emission and mechanofluorochromism were observed for the nanoassemblies of boron complexes after grinding. Effective electronic communications through pi-conjugation among individual fluorescent units and chiral centers were crucial for the observed chiroptical properties.

Circularly polarized luminescence from oriented polymer films doped with a tetraphenylethylene-based conjugated oligomer

Wan Zhang et al.

Summary: A series of oriented polymer films with efficient CPL have been fabricated through photopolymerization of cholesteric liquid-crystalline mixtures doped with a tetraphenylethylene-based conjugated oligomer. The resulting films emit intense yellow-orange CPL with absolute g(lum) values up to 0.77 and phi(F) up to 60.4%, providing a strategy for constructing CPL thin-film materials with large g(lum) and high fluorescence efficiency.

Circularly polarized luminescence in chiral nematic liquid crystals: generation and amplification

Xuefeng Yang et al.

Summary: Circularly polarized luminescent materials have great potential in research fields, but the most important parameter, luminescence dissymmetry factor (g(lum)), has not been satisfactory, especially for organic small molecules. Therefore, finding ways to obtain high g(lum) values has become an urgent challenge in the CPL research field, leading to various strategies being proposed.

Summary: Circularly polarized light irradiation induced preferred-handed propeller conformation in three amorphous molecules with trigonal symmetry, leading to efficient blue circularly polarized luminescence in the molecules with induced chirality.
