Comparative Study on the Pyrolysis Behaviors of Pine Cone and Pretreated Pine Cone by Using TGA-FTIR and Pyrolysis-GC/MS

Yu Chen et al.

Summary: This study successfully separated nonstructural substances from PC using phenolic alcohol extraction, with results showing that the N content of PC was higher than other biomasses. The activation energies of PC and A-PC generally decreased at first and then increased as the conversion rate increased, with a significant difference in the maximum absorption peaks of CH4 and CO2 between PC and A-PC.

Synthesis of 3D-interconnected hierarchical porous carbon from heavy fraction of bio-oil using crayfish shell as the biological template for high-performance supercapacitors

Zejun Luo et al.

Summary: Hierarchical porous carbons (HPCs) with favorable 3D-interconnected structure were synthesized from the heavy fraction of bio-oil, delivering excellent capacitance performance in supercapacitors. The materials exhibit high specific surface area, large total pore volume, and impressive gravimetric specific capacitance, promising potential for large-scale synthesis of electrode materials from industrial by-products and kitchen waste.

H3PO4-Assisted Synthesis of Apricot Shell Lignin-Based Activated Carbon for Capacitors: Understanding the Pore Structure/Electrochemical Performance Relationship

Liangcai Wang et al.

Summary: This study focused on the value added from lignin and the relationship between pore structure and electrochemical performance. By using H3PO4-assisted apricot shell lignin, activated carbon for capacitors was synthesized with high specific surface area and mass-specific capacitance at an activation temperature of 550 degrees C. The pore size range of 0.85-1.93 nm showed potential as a universal predictor of mass-specific capacitance in a three-electrode configuration with a 6 M KOH electrolyte.
