Summary: This study found that regular consultation or visiting healthcare centers may help improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes in Bangladesh. Patients who did not seek medical help had twice the odds of uncontrolled diabetes compared to those who did seek medical help.

Educational differences in diabetes and diabetes self-management behaviours in WHO SAGE countries

Summary: The study found that there is a positive association between years of education and diabetes diagnosis in Ghana and India, with higher education levels correlating with higher rates of diabetes diagnosis. In India, higher education levels were also associated with increased leisure physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption, adherence to special diets or insulin injections, but also with higher BMI, waist, and hip circumference.

Prevalence of and factors associated with hypertension according to JNC 7 and ACC/AHA 2017 guidelines in Bangladesh

Summary: According to the 2017 ACC/AHA guideline, there has been a significant increase in the prevalence of hypertension among Bangladeshi adults, with a rate of 50.5% under the new guideline. Risk factors such as overweight, age, being a member of affluent households, and residing in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions are associated with higher odds of hypertension.

Effectiveness of a mobile phone text messaging intervention on dietary behaviour in patients with type 2 diabetes: a post-hoc analysis of a randomised controlled trial

Summary: A study in patients with T2DM found that a text messaging program did not significantly improve dietary behavior, as there were no significant differences in vegetable, fruit, and sugar beverage consumption between the intervention and control groups. The only slight increase was seen in the consumption of sugar in tea in the intervention group compared to the control group.
