Biological insight into the extracellular vesicles in women with and without gestational diabetes

M. Franzago et al.

Summary: This study found no significant differences in levels of tEVs and EVs subtypes between GDM and control groups, but adipocyte-derived EVs (aEVs) concentration was higher in controls. In the GDM group, a significant correlation was observed between aEVs and third trimester total cholesterol. Furthermore, a significant correlation between endothelial-derived EVs (eEVs) and platelet-derived EVs (pEVs) within both groups, as well as a significant relationship between aEVs and pEVs.

Maternal diabetes alters microRNA expression in fetal exosomes, human umbilical vein endothelial cells and placenta

Kruti B. Shah et al.

Summary: Exposure to diabetes during pregnancy alters miRNA expression in fetal tissues, specifically in circulation, HUVEC, and placenta. This change in miRNA expression may play a role in influencing the future metabolic status of offspring, potentially linked to maternal diabetes.

Increasing prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus when implementing the IADPSG criteria: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Maryam Saeedi et al.

Summary: The study found that implementing the IADPSG criteria resulted in a 75% increase in gestational diabetes prevalence compared to old GDM criteria, but also led to more homogeneity. More research is needed to evaluate the benefits, harms, psychological effects, and health costs of implementing the IADPSG criteria.

Circulating extracellular vesicles during pregnancy in women with type 1 diabetes: a secondary analysis of the CONCEPTT trial

Akram Abolbaghaei et al.

Summary: Extracellular vesicle levels in pregnant women with type 1 diabetes are associated with glucose fluctuations and may impact neonatal outcomes. Assessing extracellular vesicles could offer a new personalized care approach for type 1 diabetes pregnancies.
