Gestational Age-Specific Distribution of the Hammersmith Neonatal Neurological Examination Scores Among Low-Risk Neonates in Ghana

Harriet L. S. Lawford et al.

Summary: The study aimed to describe the gestational age-specific distribution of Hammersmith Neonatal Neurological Examination (HNNE) scores in a low-risk, term-born, single-center sample in Ghana up to 48 hours after birth. Variations in scores for different gestational age groups were observed in certain subdomains of the test, which could be attributed to factors such as misclassification of gestational age or variations in testing conditions. Further research is needed to determine the reasons for these differences and assess the accuracy of neurologic assessments in predicting neurodevelopmental risk in infants in low- and middle-income countries.

Associations Between Early Structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination, and General Movements Assessment in Infants Born Very Preterm

Summary: This study found a low prevalence of moderate or severe brain abnormalities in very preterm infants, with significant associations between structural MRI abnormality and motor assessments. While there was a low correlation between GMA and HINE, suggesting that these tests evaluate different constructs.
