Termites and Chinese agricultural system: applications and advances in integrated termite management and chemical control

Farhan Ahmad et al.

Summary: Termites are beneficial arthropods that can improve soil fertility and crop yield, but certain species pose a threat to the farming community. Effective management of termites involves improving traditional methods, optimizing agricultural practices, and integrating existing technologies.

Termites and maize crops: assemblage composition, damage level, and varietal sensitivity in contrasting agro-ecological zones of the Republic of Benin

Yeyinou Laura Estelle Loko et al.

Summary: The study investigated 60 maize fields in 30 villages in four agro-ecological zones of southern Benin, identifying 15 termite species with 4 species found across all zones. Wood-feeders and species nesting in hypogeal nests were most abundant in all zones. Termite damage level to maize varied based on the variety, with Korga variety classified as highly resistant, Agbade kouin winiwini variety as resistant, Igbado tchakpa variety as moderately resistant, and Elekpere and Forkui varieties as highly susceptible.
