Soil sodicity is more detrimental than salinity for quinoa (Chenopodium quinoaWilld.): A multivariate comparison of physiological, biochemical and nutritional quality attributes

Ghulam Abbas et al.

Summary: The study showed that soil sodicity has a greater impact on quinoa genotypes than salinity, with higher sodicity levels leading to more Na accumulation and oxidative damage. Genotypes A1 and A7 exhibited higher salt tolerance and better grain nutritional quality compared to Puno and Vikinga.

Impact of saline stress on the uptake of various macro and micronutrients and their associations with plant biomass and root traits in wheat

Deyong Zhao et al.

Summary: Under salt stress, the Na+/K+ ratio in roots and shoots significantly increased, with notable changes in concentrations of Ca, Mg, Zn, and Fe. Principal component analysis showed significant associations of these ions with aboveground biomass and root traits. Manipulating ion homeostasis, particularly Na+/K+, in combination with selecting genotypes with better salt tolerance may help alleviate the effects of salt stress.
