Modeling of a biosensor using Tamm resonance excited by graphene

Zaky A. Zaky et al.

Summary: In this paper, a one-dimensional hybrid graphene-porous silicon photonic crystal biosensor is modeled and optimized using nanoscale pores in silicon layers, based on Tamm resonance. Numerical simulations show that by adjusting parameters, the sensitivity and figure of merit of the sensor can be controlled, resulting in good performance in biological detection.

Salinity and temperature detection for seawater based on a 1D-defective photonic crystal material

Sameeha R. Qutb et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates a sensing principle using a 1D defective photonic crystal structure to simultaneously detect the salinity and temperature of seawater. By adjusting the design parameters, the optical properties response can be investigated to achieve peak wavelength shift in the output transmission spectrum.

A Comparative study of the effective surface impedance of an HTc superconducting thin film from visible to mid-IR region

Walied Sabra et al.

Summary: This study presents a comparative theoretical analysis of the effective surface impedance of a HTc superconducting thin film across different electromagnetic spectrum regions. The research shows variations in the values of effective surface resistance and reactance with increasing frequency, with higher values in the visible region compared to NIR and MIR regions. The significance of the study lies in understanding the electromagnetic power dissipation and magnetic-field penetration depth in superconducting thin films for device performance.

High Sensitivity to Salinity-Temperature Using One-Dimensional Deformed Photonic Crystal

Naim Ben Ali et al.

Summary: This paper theoretically studies the concept of a photonic salinity and temperature sensor using a deformed one-dimensional photonic structure. The structure is optimized to achieve maximum sensitivity, with the best salinity sensitivity of 558.82 nm/RFIU and temperature sensitivity of 600 nm/RFIU.
