Viscosity Prediction of Rubberized Asphalt-Rejuvenated Recycled Asphalt Pavement Binders Using Artificial Neural Network Approach

Zifeng Zhao et al.

Summary: Two artificial neural network models were developed in this study to predict the viscosity of rubberized asphalt rejuvenated reclaimed asphalt pavement binders. Through sensitivity analysis, it was found that blending temperature for aged binder, viscosity measuring temperature, original binder blending time, and reclaimed asphalt pavement blending time were important variables contributing to the binder viscosity.

Modeling and design optimization of reclaimed asphalt pavement containing crude palm oil using response surface methodology

Waqas Rafiq et al.

Summary: This study examines the influence of using crude palm oil in hot mix asphalt with recycled asphalt pavement materials. Experimental results show that stability and indirect tensile strength increase with up to 80% recycled asphalt pavement material, but 100% RAP with crude palm oil reduces these strength parameters. Microstructural analysis reveals that the incorporation of CPO changes the structure of aged and virgin binder, forming new and unique phases. The statistical models are significant and well-fitted, validated through experiments with a low error rate, indicating potential for CPO as a bio binder material.

Palm oil fuel ash application in cold mix dense-graded bituminous mixture

Kabiru Rogo Usman et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the addition of POFA in fast-curing cold mix asphalt significantly improves Marshall volumetric properties, as well as enhances tensile strength, dynamic creep, resistance to cracking, and moisture damage in CMA. POFA waste serves as a good pozzolanic filler, reducing the void content in CMA. The incorporation of POFA results in increased early strength and durability of CMA mixtures.

Modeling and optimization of mixing parameters using response surface methodology and characterization of palm oil clinker fine modified bitumen

Nura Shehu Aliyu Yaro et al.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of using palm oil clinker fine (POCF) as a bitumen modifier for improving conventional properties. The optimization process reveals that POCF dosage significantly impacts penetration and softening point of bitumen, with optimal mixing parameters achieving close agreement between predicted and laboratory values. Overall, POCF shows great promise as an alternative bitumen modifier for sustainable development.

Properties of fly ash cement brick containing palm oil clinker as fine aggregate replacement

Khairunisa Muthusamy et al.

Summary: The study found that adding 30% of palm oil clinker to fly ash cement sand brick enhances the strength of the brick due to the pozzolanic effect of fine clinker. The chemical reaction between calcium hydroxide and silicon dioxide forms extra CSH gel that contributes to pore refinement and higher strength of the brick.
