Dynamic characterization of recycled glass-recycled concrete blends using experimental analysis and artificial neural network modeling

Behnam Ghorbani et al.

Summary: This study investigated the deformation properties of RCA/RG blends for pavement base applications. Results showed an increase in permanent strain and a decrease in M-r of blends as the RG content increased. Blends exhibited strain-hardening behavior in the post-peak zone when RG content was over 10%.

Properties of concrete with untreated and treated crumb rubber - A review

Rida Alwi Assaggaf et al.

Summary: Crumb rubber has been used to enhance the impact and toughness of concrete, and the flexibility of rubber aggregates could be the key to solving failure due to fatigue. Although there may be a marginal reduction in mechanical properties, appropriate treatment of crumb rubber can overcome this issue. The use of crumb rubber concrete can have a positive impact on the environment by solving disposal problems and conserving natural aggregates.

Mechanical properties of CO2 concrete utilising practical carbonation variables

Vivian W. Y. Tam et al.

Summary: The study investigates the potential of CO2 injection in concrete and recycled aggregate for material strengthening. The results show that CO2 Concrete has comparable mechanical performance to virgin aggregate concrete under certain conditions. This suggests that CO2 Concrete can replace virgin aggregate concrete in achieving similar strengthening effects.

Predicting concrete compressive strength using hybrid ensembling of surrogate machine learning models

Panagiotis G. Asteris et al.

Summary: This study implemented a hybrid ensemble surrogate machine learning technique to predict the compressive strength of concrete. The newly constructed Hybrid Ensemble Model showed higher predictive accuracy compared to conventional machine learning models, making it a potential solution for overfitting issues and predicting concrete compressive strength in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way.

Compressive strength prediction models of lightweight aggregate concretes using ultrasonic pulse velocity

Yifan Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces two models for predicting the compressive strength of lightweight aggregate concrete, a regression model and a back-propagation neural network (BPNN). Statistical results show that both models can provide reasonable estimations of compressive strength, with the BPNN model offering more accurate predictions compared to the regression model.
