Effect of graphene oxide dosage on the deterioration properties of cement pastes exposed to an intense nitric acid environment

Murugan Muthu et al.

Summary: The use of graphene oxide (GO) in modifying cement concrete was found to significantly reduce mass and sectional area losses in acid exposed specimens, as well as decrease the porosity of cement pastes. While GO did not influence the mineralogy of the altered cement matrix, it contributed to the material stiffness and improved resistance against acidic medium.

Summary: The combination of MK particles with PCE can significantly improve the dispersion and stability of GO nanosheets in high alkaline environments; MK-PCE modified GO suspensions enhance the mechanical properties of cement composites; MK particles play a crucial role in reducing the interaction between GO nanosheets and calcium ions in cementitious environments.

Correlation between the Compressive Strength and Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity of Cement Mortars Blended with Silica Fume: An Analysis of Microstructure and Hydration Kinetics

Geuntae Hong et al.

Summary: This study experimentally analyzed the effect of the replacement rate of silica fume on the correlation between the compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity of cement mortar. The substitution of silica fume changed the hydration kinetics and microstructures of the cement mortar, resulting in different strengths and ultrasonic pulse velocities depending on the replacement rate. Additionally, the compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity for cement mortars blended with silica fume showed a different exponential relationship depending on the replacement rate.
