Timelines as a tool for learning about space weather storms

Delores J. Knipp et al.

Summary: This study uses timelines to provide context for space weather storms of different intensities. Research findings suggest that significant auroral storms occur about every 40-60 years over the last 500 years, albeit with uneven distribution. Additionally, two examples are presented to describe space weather storms using solar, geospace, and effects categories.

MuzLink: Connected beeswarm timelines for visual analysis of musical adaptations and artist relationships

Francois Levesque et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new method for exploring and understanding a specific type of multilayered graph by combining a large bipartite graph with a set of tree structures. The interactive visualization tool MuzLink allows users to navigate, search, locate, and compare relationships between musical artists through the exploration of musical adaptations. User studies with BAnQ users and two case studies demonstrate the proposed approach is capable of performing a wide range of analytical and exploratory tasks.
