Random-Drop Data Augmentation of Deep Convolutional Neural Network for Mineral Prospectivity Mapping

Tong Li et al.

Summary: The study utilized a CNN for mineral prospectivity mapping in southwestern Fujian Province, China, addressing limitations in applying CNN to geological prospecting big data. A random-drop data augmentation method was used to generate sufficient training samples, determining a suitable CNN architecture for MPM. The findings suggest that CNN is a promising tool for integrating multi-source geoscience data for mineral exploration.

Data-driven Mineral Prospectivity Mapping by Joint Application of Unsupervised Convolutional Auto-encoder Network and Supervised Convolutional Neural Network

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: This study tested the efficacy of using an unsupervised convolutional auto-encoder network (CAE) to support convolutional neural network (CNN) modeling for data-driven mineral prospectivity mapping by synthesizing multi-geoinformation. The results demonstrated the potential of this approach for accurately mapping prospective and non-prospective areas, with strong spatial correlation observed between CNN modeling results and known Au deposits in the study area.

Regional-Scale Mineral Prospectivity Mapping: Support Vector Machines and an Improved Data-Driven Multi-criteria Decision-Making Technique

Reza Ghezelbash et al.

Summary: Mapping mineral prospectivity is plagued by stochastic and systemic uncertainties, with this study focusing on reducing the latter for Cu-Au mineralization in NE Iran. By introducing efficient evidence layers and a data-driven SAW procedure, the study successfully delineated favorable exploration targets. Comparison with a SVM model showed that SVM was more reliable in predicting high-potential areas of mineralization.

Mineral Prospectivity Prediction via Convolutional Neural Networks Based on Geological Big Data

Shi Li et al.

Summary: This study applied a 3D CNN model to the mineral prospectivity mapping of the Huayuan sedimentary Mn deposit in Hunan Province, achieving high accuracy and low loss values. Comparison experiments showed that the 3D CNN model outperformed the WofE model in predictive evaluation indexes, particularly with the 1-12 ore-controlling factors selected in experiment 5 providing the best prediction effect.

Evolution of Pyrite Compositions at the Sizhuang Gold Deposit, Jiaodong Peninsula, Eastern China: Implications for the Genesis of Jiaodong-Type Orogenic Gold Mineralization

Zhankun Liu et al.

Summary: The textures and trace elements of pyrite in the Sizhuang gold deposit indicate that the formation of gold deposits may be influenced by deep high-temperature magmatic waters and meteoric water infiltration. Gold mineralization at the Sizhuang deposit is interpreted to be controlled by pressure-driver owing to the seismic activities in the Jiaojia fault system.

Summary: This study utilized a GANomaly network to detect geochemical anomalies related to mineralization in Jiangxi Province and its adjacent areas, showing a spatial correlation with known tungsten polymetallic deposits. The GANomaly network effectively extracts anomalous geochemical information, identifies significant abnormal areas, and avoids the influence of noise in geochemical data.
