Determination of minimum horizontal curve radius for safe stopping sight distance of vehicles overpassing truck platoons

Alfredo Garcia et al.

Summary: This research aims to investigate the impact of truck platoons on road safety, focusing on the reduction of visibility caused by shorter gaps on horizontal curves. The study considers various factors such as curve radius, lane width, vehicle parameters, and the relative position of vehicles in the platoon. Results highlight the importance of this phenomenon and the need for further countermeasures to ensure road safety.

Trajectory control in roundabouts with a mixed fleet of automated and human-driven vehicles

Rasool Mohebifard et al.

Summary: This paper presents a methodology to control the trajectory of cooperative connected automated vehicles (CAVs) at roundabouts with a mixed fleet of CAVs and human-driven vehicles (HVs). By optimizing the trajectories of CAVs, total travel times can be reduced, and increasing CAV market penetration rates can lead to considerable improvements.

A computational framework for finite element modeling of traveling loads on bridges in dynamic regime

Raffaele De Risi

Summary: This paper presents a simplified approach for modeling traveling loads on bridges in a dynamic regime by neglecting the traveling mass. The method's validity is tested through sensitivity analysis with realistic case-study bridges, and it is found applicable to various civil engineering problems.

Sources of Uncertainties in Offsite Logistics of Modular Construction for High-Rise Building Projects

Yi Yang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify and categorize sources of uncertainties (SoUs) affecting offsite logistics in high-rise modular building projects in high-density cities. Through a multicase study method, 30 key SoUs were identified in five areas, showing that most uncertainties arise from offsite logistics processes and planning and control systems. Demand-side SoUs were found to have higher probabilities and impacts, while supply-side SoUs, although less probable, could have significant impacts on offsite logistics.
